The Hawkhurst Bread Shed started life in 2018.
Today, our family run business delivers fresh sandwiches, baguettes, pastas, salads and wraps daily via our refrigerated vans to over 100 different outlets throughout Kent & East Sussex.
These products are all lovingly hand-made by a small team at our rural unit in Kent and it’s fair to say, we love making them as much as our customers love eating them.

Since we started, our aim has always been to keep our end customers happy while operating as sustainably as possible. Whether they are hungrily picking up a sandwich at a petrol station, village shop, or local tourist attraction, or enjoying one of our bulging baguettes and baps, perfect pastas, super salad bowls or plump pies.
We supply 100+ retail outlets across the Wealden counties from our dedicated 5-star rated kitchen in West Kent, where our amazing team hand-produce fresh sandwiches 6 days-a-week.
We are incredibly proud to partner with other local businesses like Kentish Mayde and to supply sites like Bewl Water, Bedgebury National Pinetum & Forest and the Kent & East Sussex Railway.

Happy Planet
Right from the off we wanted to be as environmentally responsible as possible. We searched for ages to find the right packaging – after all, we need the packaging we use to keep things fresh too. After many trials we are now able to use recycled/recyclable plant-based containers for nearly all our range and we will keep working until it is 100%.
We also work to limit waste by using bio processing units that break food and plant-based packaging down into a soil enricher which can then be used to grow more crops, or produce a supplementary biomass fuel. And we support our local Community Fridge whenever we can supply them with unsold stock.
Our delicious sandwiches are lovingly packed and sent to the shelf in various types of Planglow plastic-free packaging. The plant-based Natural Peel & Seal Wedge is a firm favourite as it offers an extended shelf life for sandwiches.
We also use the Planglow Natural Heat Seal Wedge, a perfect match for our trademark deep-fill sandwiches. The wedge is fully lined with a smart plant-based laminate offering a superior barrier so that even the most generous fillings stay as fresh as can be. Like our mouth-watering New Yorker with mustard mayo, emmental, gherkin, pastrami, and rocket.
In addition, the cute and rustic natural tortilla tuck-top wrap pack comes into its own for our wraps, and the Planglow Blanco Multi-bag gives customers a crystal clear view of the products inside.
